Cebrin Goodman Institute on Substance Abuse Scholarships
Sheriff John E. Zaruba announced today that the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Illinois Sheriff’s Association, is once again offering scholarships to the Cebrin Goodman Institute on Substance Abuse (formerly Illinois Teen Institute), a drug prevention program that will be held this summer at Eastern Illinois University July 21-25, 2013.
CGTI is a week-long youth leadership training for middle and high school students who want to learn leadership skills, meet other youth from around the state, and become empowered to create change in their schools and communities! With a focus on personal responsibility, decision-making, and leading to change – this conference is for future leaders who want to make a real difference in their community
CGTI teens will learn to:
• Develop skills to be an advocate for positive change
• Make a difference in their community
• Communicate more effectively
• Prevent drug and alcohol abuse
There will be 60 scholarships issued throughout the state of Illinois. Scholarships will be accepted only on a first come, first serve basis. Participants will be furnished tuition, lodging, t-shirt, photo, workshop materials, recreation and meals. Transportation is not included. The CGTI is not a treatment program; it is a prevention program.
