Fire Arson Task Force Awarded Grant Funds
Sheriff John E. Zaruba announced today that the DuPage County Fire Arson Task Force was awarded and has accepted a grant from Illinois Fireman’s Fund at their annual banquet last week.
The DuPage County Fire Arson Task Force was presented with a check for $2500.00 by the Illinois Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. The Heritage Fund was founded in 2004 to support fire fighters for a safer community. Since the inception of the program, $30 million dollars has been awarded to support 1900 fire agencies across the nation.
In 1999 Sheriff John E. Zaruba along with local and federal agencies launched The Fire Investigation Task Force in DuPage County. This multi-jurisdictional taskforce of Law Enforcement, Fire Agencies and the DuPage County States Attorney’s Office gave access to technology, equipment and the expertise needed to successfully investigate and prosecute cases of arson across DuPage County.
The grant funds will be used to purchase various types of personal protective equipment ranging from respirators, filters, helmets, gloves, tools and training aides.
