Sheriff Arrests Couple for Burglary and Retail Theft
Sheriff John Zaruba announced the arrest of a Wheaton man and a Glen Ellyn woman after they burglarized and committed retail thefts at Walmart stores in DuPage County.
David Schell (dob/08/6/89) of the 2300 block of Appleby Dr., Wheaton has been charged with 2 counts of Burglary which is class 2 felony and 3 counts of Retail Theft which is a class 3 felony. Heather Arnold (dob/08/24/90) of the 300 block of Ash Lane, Glen Ellyn has been charged with 2 counts of Burglary which is class 2 felony and 2 counts of Retail Theft which is a class 3 felony.
Sheriff’s Office Detectives have been investigating retail thefts that occurred at Walmart stores in unincorporated DuPage County. Multiple items were taken from the retail chain, including power tools, electric razors and calculators and then sold to pawn shops. It is alleged that Schell and Arnold would commit the thefts and then sell the items to support their drug habits. During the investigation it was discovered that in a 60 day period that the couple sold over $4000 dollars in stolen property.
Schell and Arnold are being held in the DuPage County Jail. Arnold’s bond has been set at $75,000 and Schell will be in bond court today at 4:00 pm.
The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office reminds readers that any charges indicated in this document are merely accusations, and the listed defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
