Five Arrested for Strong Arm Robbery
Sheriff John Zaruba announced the arrest of 5 suspects last night for strong arm robbery in unincorporated Wheaton.
Devonte Allmon (dob 12/15/1995) of the 600 block of Michigan Ave., Villa Park, Nathan Rodriguez (dob 03/09/1996) of the 600 block of Swift Rd., Addison, Kyle Deger (dob 1/10/1993) of the 400 block of Phillips Ave., Glen Ellyn and two juvenile suspects have been charged with one count of Robbery which is a class 2 felony and one count of Aggravated Battery which is a class 4 felony.
At approximately 12:00 am on September 21st, a juvenile victim received a phone call from one of the suspects who said they were having car trouble and could the victim bring some money and assist them. The victim got dressed, and then went to assist the juvenile suspect whose vehicle was supposedly broken down, nearby the residence. The victim was approached by a male suspect who asked if he was looking for the juvenile suspect when allegedly the three males started to kick and punch him and took the victims cell phone and removed a wallet from their pocket. The victim ran back into the residence and the suspects drove away.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the suspects were looking for money. They allegedly picked a victim who they considered wealthy so they could rob them to purchase drugs and alcohol.
Allmon, Rodridguez and Deger are currently being held in the DuPage County Jail and will be in bond court today 8:00am and the two juveniles are being held in the Kane County Youth Home.
