UPDATE ~ Incident at Indian Knoll School

Sheriff John Zaruba announced today that warrants have been obtained for 6 teens responsible for the incident that occurred at Indian Knoll School in unincorporated West Chicago on Friday, May 1st.

The six teenagers who reside in West Chicago, Carol Stream and Malta have each been charged with one count of Disorderly Conduct and one count of Reckless Conduct which are class A Misdemeanors.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Friday May 1st at Indian Knoll School regarding a plastic bottle that exploded near the parking lot and playground of the school. Sheriff’s Deputies searched the school and grounds looking for additional devices. No other active devices were located on the school grounds.

After following up on several leads, Sheriff’s Detectives were able to locate those responsible and determine that it was an isolated incident, the school was not targeted and no harm was intended to any student.

“Thoughtless actions such as this could have severe unintended consequences,” Sheriff Zaruba said. “I would like to remind every citizen that if they should see any suspicious activity in their neighborhood, parks or school grounds they should immediately contact their local police agency,” he continued.
